The functional microstructure is the one with different morphologies, scales, dimensions, and application functions formed on the surface by using advanced manufacturing technology. It is an emerging multidisciplinary research field in recent years. This report will first introduce the current status of domestic and foreign research in the field of functional microstructure manufacturing and the opportunities and challenges it faces. It will focus on several research results in the design and manufacturing of functional devices such as microchannel hydrogen reactors and micro / nano sensors. Its application is introduced and explained in detail. Finally, the future research and development of micro-channel hydrogen production reactor and micro-nano sensors are prospected.
Zhou Wei, PhD in Engineering, is a professor (unconventional promotion) and doctoral supervisor of Xiamen University, and winner of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars. He is currently Director of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Xiamen University, Director of the Fujian Precision Manufacturing Technology Development Base, Deputy Director of the Fujian Micro-Nano Manufacturing Engineering Technology Research Center, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Fujian Mechanical Engineering Society.
He has long been engaged in research work on precision machining and forming technology, new energy and energy saving equipment, and micro / nano sensors. So far, he has published 120 academic papers in Applied Energy, Energy Conversion and Management, and other journals. He is the first or corresponding author in 68 papers (including 49 SCI searches, 1 selected high-cited paper, and 2 journal cover papers). He has applied 72 patents, 21 invention patents, and transferred 4 patents. He has presided over more than 30 projects, including the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars General/Youth/Emergency Management Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Common/Field Fund Equipment Pre-Research Project of the 13th Five-Year Plan, Fujian/Guangdong Outstanding Youth Science Fund, the Xiamen Science and Technology Plan Project, and projects commissioned by enterprises and public institutions.
He has won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of Guangdong Province, the Second Prize of Natural Science Award of Guangdong Province, and the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Papers of the China Nonferrous Metals Society. He has been selected as one of the “Double Hundred Plan” top young talents specially supported by Fujian Province, Fujian New Century Excellent Talents Plan, Xiamen City major talents, and Xiamen University Nanqiang top young talents.
